The Chelmsford Weekly News have some great coverage of the recent opening of our latest LEGO® Education INNOVATION STUDIO at Chelmer Valley High School.
Former student Richard Stephens opened the INNOVATION STUDIO saying;
“Like just about every child in the last 60 years one of my first toys was a box of LEGO and therefore my first experience of engineering was with LEGO blocks. The first principals of structural engineering were learnt through building houses and the mechanics of propulsion through model cars. This fascination for how things worked stayed with me. Now of course, LEGO has progressed much further since I was small and its educational value has increased further still. The LEGO MINDSTORMS kit allows students to learn essential computer programming skills as well as basic systems engineering, and this even forms part of the first year engineering course at Cambridge. Without this school’s support and encouragement, and their commitment to the future of engineering, I would not now be benefiting from the fantastic opportunities that come my way as an engineering undergraduate at Cambridge.”
